Presenters Bio

Sarah Simpson

Sarah has been living here on the Costa Blanca for eight years after leaving the serene surrounds of her Isle of Wight home.

She started off as a singer and DJ before moving into radio two years ago. Sarah says it's the best career move she has ever made and her enthusiasm for the job burns through the Sunshine FM airwaves on her lunchtime show throughout the week.

Sarah's musical roots come from the likes of Billy Jo Spears, Kenny Rogers, America and a very old Top Of The Pops album featuring the Osmonds, but if you listen to her lunchtime show every day, you will know she has broadened her musical horizons considerably since then!

Listening to Sarah will give you the ultimate flavour of the hottest artists in music today and whether you fancy catching tracks from the first album she bought, Sting's Fields of Gold, or the latest tunes from the best acts around, this is the show for you.

The sexiest voice on the Costa Blanca is on Sunshine FM weekdays 11am till 2pm and on Sundays 3pm till 7pm.

Luke Wilder

Hailing from Birmingham, England, Luke has always been involved with music from a very young age, as he recalls "I remember making crazy little shows in my bedroom on a crappy tape recorder with typical 1980's Casio keyboard".

Luke started out his musical life aged 5 singing at the St Columbus choir in Birmingham then leaving because his main passion lay in the field of rock pop and indie. Since the age of just 14 Luke has performed in many bands around Britain winning the BRMB battle of the bands competition in 2003, collaborating with the likes of musical youth, steel pulse and also attending the annual international music marketing conference MIDEM in Cannes as a delegate mixing with the likes of Bob Geldof, Goldie Lookin Chain, Telepathetics, to name but a few.

Luke also holds a BA in popular music studies which he aquired at the highly respected Birmingham conservatoire part of the University of Central England. When he heard about a job opportunity on the Costa's Number 1 he packed his bags and now currently resides on the Costa Blanca.

Luke's always up for a laugh and doesn't take himself too seriously as you can hear when his personality roars through the airwaves every Saturday afternoon from 1200-1500 and Sundays 1600 – 1900 CET.

Luke's musical tastes span the genres and the decades as you'll find out when you
tune into both of his weekend shows.

Kev Woods

Some in Spain call it siesta time, but 2pm till 5pm is when Kev Woods comes alive on Sunshine FM.
Originally from Chesterfield, Derbyshire, he now living in a luxurious Mediterranean penthouse apartment on the beaches of Orihuela Costa.

Kev has been working behind the microphone for 18 years, learning his trade working at weddings and birthday parties before progressing to pubs, clubs and then making the big move to the Costa Blanca.
He is in love with his new home and the only thing he misses about the mother land is his adorable little daughter Kelsey, who is four-years-old and lives in sunny Scotland.

You have to be kind to Kev as he is a life-long supporter of Derby County, so it's only natural that he has been more than a little scared by the tragedies that have befallen the Rams in recent years, but Kev has still managed to keep smiling after a season when his team did little more than make a fool of themselves in the Premier League.
We don't call him the 'Smallest Man on Radio' for nothing as he need to lift the studio chair to its highest level to reach the microphone, but the Kev Woods show is the biggest thing on Costa Blanca radio between 2pm and 5pm every weekday.

Chris Marsden

You can tell that Chris Marsden has landed on his feet with his current job as he has little hesitation in naming the one item he couldn't be without if he was stranded on a desert island - a radio!

Sheffield-born Chris and his unique brand of madcap and unpredictable banter lights up the Sunshine FM airways every evening for the best Drivetime show on the Costa Blanca.

However, Chris' sublime professionalism in front of the microphone does not extend to his somewhat eccentric initial tastes in music. The first record he ever bought is hardly one to shout about, with Keith Harris and Orville's 'I Wish I Could Fly' about as embarrassing as it gets for a first purchase in a record shop. The Sunshine FM staff have vowed to stop him from ever dusting down his vinyl copy of the dreaded tune and disgracing our airwaves with it.

So great entertainment and quality music are guaranteed as Chris Marsden's Drivetime Show bursts into the Sunshine FM studio between 5pm and 8pm every weekday. This is one show you will not want to miss.

Gary Francis

Gary Francis is known as 'The Voice Of The Night' and as he has lived in Spain for many years, he is fluent in the local language.

He has had a lifetime involvement with music and has worked with music legends including Greg Lake of ELO, Lee Kerslake and Uriah Heep in the UK.

He is a successful business man here in Spain, working in the insurance field and has been in demand with local radio stations for some time, but Sunshine FM have their man and don't intend letting him go. If you are looking for the ultimate chill out at night, Gary's distinctive gravelly voice should be your first port of call with his great show on Monday to Wednesday and also on Friday night between 8pm and 11pm.

Joe Palmer

Joe Palmer has been in the music business for most of his life and came to Spain six years ago searching for a (quote) life of sun, sea and sangria, but his dreams of an idyllic existence were to be shattered as he was wooed by the idea of buying a controlling share in Sunshine FM three years ago. The rest, as they say, is history.

Before coming to Spain, Joe has worked with artists such as The Fureys, Daniel O'Donnell, Randy VanWarmer, Tom Paxton, The Peelers, George Hamilton IV, Ralph McTell, Kenny Ball, Charlie Landsborough and Dominic Kirwin, not to mention sporting legends like Dickie Bird and Tommy Docherty.

In addition, Joe was the owner of several record shops, had his own 24-track recording studio and a successful record label back in the UK and is now imparting his considerable musical knowledge at Sunshine FM.

He hosts the popular Celtic Connection show every Thursday evening between 8am and 10am, with all your favourite Irish tracks flooding the airwaves, as well as the highly popular Breakfast Brunch with Chris Ashley, which kicks off at 9am every Saturday and Sunday morning.

David Hamilton

Sunshine FM were delighted to welcome broadcasting royalty to its ranks when David Hamilton joined our stable of presenters.

A veteran broadcaster of almost 50 years, David was a presenter on BBC radio shows featuring The Beatles and the Rolling Stones back in the 1960s and even appeared on an episode of Monty Phython's Flying Circus in the 1970s.

A former star of BBC Radio 1 and Radio 2, his career has enjoyed a revival in recent years as he has presented a host of shows featuring music's 'Million Sellers' and that is the format of the show he brings to Costa Blanca's finest station.
David's distinctive tones burst out of the Sunshine FM speakers every Sunday between 12pm and 2pm and he is back for more every Tuesday night between 8pm and 10pm.

Simon Morton

Simon is one of the Costa Blanca's top entertainers and he seems to have been destined for a life in showbiz from an early age.

He began his musical career at the age of five learning to play the piano and progressed to trumpet. At the tender age of seven, he got a scholarship to Lincoln Cathedral Choir School where he stayed for seven years, eventually becoming head chorister. If only Britain's Got Talent was on TV back then!

From there, he joined the Royal Marine Band Service where he did prestigious engagements from Royal Weddings to the Royal Tournament, while also appearing on a host of television shows such as Blue Peter and Pebble Mill at One.
After fourteen years, he decided to become a professional civilian musician and his talents are not only heard across the Costa Blanca on Sunshine FM every morning.

Pop into one of numerous top entertainment venues in the area and you might just find Simon strutting his stuff until the wee small hours, but he always sounds bright and breezy for his highly successful breakfast show all the same.
Often wacky, always unpredictable, Simon Morton's breakfast show is compulsive listening and you don't want to miss a second of his unique charm every morning between 8am and 11am.
